Teachers are increasingly asked to bring Asia into their classrooms. The UCLA Asia Pacific Center has developed a number of annotated online catalogs (curriculum materials, films, and internet resources) as well as resources such as Today in Asian History, AsiaDocuments, and AsiaStats to aid in this effort.
In addition, the Asia Pacific Center works with teachers through seminars at UCLA and at school sites. They also partner with other major universities in improving instruction on Asia through the Association for Asian Studies (AAS) and the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA).
ASCD's SmartBrief, delivered to your email box, summarizes current issues from various national publications. An efficient use of time, because the reader guides the summaries.
Annenberg Learner provides continuing education and graduate-level courses, in partnership with Colorado State University and PBS TeacherLine.
The Asian Educational Media Service, housed at the University of Illinois in Champaign, offers links, teacher's guides, and multi-media resources.
Some teachers are reluctant to become involved in government projects. Honest--the resources here are tremendous.
